Weekends are my favorite time of the week because I can bury myself in one of my weekend getaways from DC. Working hard and earning as much money as you can does not mean that you shouldn’t relax a bit and unwind. You need to rejuvenate your mind and body so you stay motivated and determined to achieve your career goals. If you can’t afford to go abroad for a vacation, going somewhere nearby is okay. Actually, going somewhere nearby is better. There are a lot of places near DC that you can enjoy going to every weekend. Not only will you spend less, you won’t be bothered by long journeys as well. I personally love going to amusement parks simply because I am still a kid at heart. And also, because the adrenaline rush is incomparable to any other place and really takes my mind off my work. Here are some of my favorites nearby amusement parks that I like to slip my weekends in.

Weekend Getaways From DC Amusement Park #1: Hershey Park

If you haven’t heard of Hershey’s before then you must be living under a rock. The Hershey’s factory is located n Pennsylvania which is just a few hour drive north of DC. To commemorate the success of Hershey’s chocolate this amusement park was made with the theme of Hershey’s chocolate of course! This is the reason why I love this place so much. You can have as many chocolates in your eyes as you want without getting sugar high or worse, diabetes. It’s all chocolate goodness around there. There are about 60 different rides you can get on and while you’re there, don’t forget to visit the Hershey’s Chocolate World to know how their delicious chocolates are made.

Weekend Getaways From DC Amusement Park #2: Adventure Park

Weekend Getaways From DCIf you prefer driving to the east to Maryland, there is also Adventure Park. If I don’t want to go to Hershey Park, this is where I drive to. The theme of this amusement park is more of the western type of amusement with different rides and amenities to choose from. Go Kart, mini golf or bump cars – they have it here for you to try. There is also paintball and laser tag if you want some more intense adventure.

Weekend Getaways From DC Amusement Park #3: Busch Gardens

Southbound, there is also Busch Gardens located in Virginia that you can go to during the weekends. Compared to the two other amusement parks mentioned, I must say that this has the widest offerings of them all. There are a handful of rides to choose from, different shows to watch and animal attractions to watch out for and a water park, too. It is also very near Colonial Williamsburg which is a historical attraction where you can enjoy a family trip to.

Be Amused With Amusement Parks

Weekend Getaways From DCWe all have a child’s heart and going to amusement parks will always be a favorite of many people. These are where I go during my weekends to relive my childhood memories and have some fun, too while relaxing my mind. These places will always be my weekend getaways from DC and I hope they become yours too.
